Performance
Engineered.
The technology inside every Axis piece exists for one reason: to keep you performing when the environment is working against you.
AXIS-Weave DWR Membrane
Our proprietary tri-layer construction integrates a durable water repellent membrane directly into the face fabric. Unlike applied DWR coatings that wash out over time, AXIS-Weave is structural — the water repellency is built into the molecular architecture of the weave itself. Rated 30,000mm hydrostatic head. Breathability: 30,000g/m²/24h.
Laser-Bonded Critical Seams
Conventional sewn seams create thousands of needle holes — each one a potential water entry point. Axis uses thermal laser bonding on all critical seams, fusing the fabric layers together without penetration. The result is a seam as waterproof as the fabric itself, with no degradation over time or washing cycles.
Ergonomic Articulation System
Every Axis shell is pattern-cut using motion-capture data from alpinists under full load. The articulation points — shoulder, elbow, knee, hip — are pre-rotated in the pattern so that freedom of movement is built in, not fought for. You reach for a hold, the jacket moves with you. Always.
Thermal Regulation Core
Our mid-layer insulation uses a hybrid fill: 850-fill-power responsibly sourced down in the core zones, synthetic PrimaLoft® Gold Active in the high-sweat panels. The result: maximum warmth where you need it, active moisture management where you generate it.
Hardware Specification
YKK® AquaGuard® zippers throughout. Brass grommet reinforcement on all stress points. Forged aluminium toggle hardware. Axis does not use plastic where metal performs better, or metal where titanium saves critical weight. Every component is chosen for performance, not cost.
About Our
Technology.
AXIS-Weave matches Gore-Tex Pro performance metrics on hydrostatic head and breathability, while offering superior abrasion resistance on the face fabric. Unlike Gore-Tex, which is licensed from a single manufacturer, AXIS-Weave is proprietary — developed in-house and continuously refined.
No. Structural DWR is built into the weave at the manufacturing stage — it is not an applied surface treatment. The water repellency is permanent and will not degrade with washing or field use. We recommend washing in a technical garment wash to maintain performance.
The Axis Thermal Mid-Layer is rated to -25°C in sustained conditions. For extreme cold (-40°C and below), we recommend layering with our Base Series. All ratings are EN 13537 tested.
Every Axis product completes a minimum 18-month field testing programme before production. Our test team operates on glaciers, in storm conditions, and on technical alpine routes. If it fails in the field, it does not go to production.
